I've always been fascinated by songs and songwriters; how in just three or four minutes they could take me on a trip to a far off place or tell me a story I'd want to hear over and over again.  I was never very good at learning to play other people's songs, so I guess that was the catalyst for trying to write my own.  It turned out to be a great fork in the road that has given me the opportunity to meet so many new friends and experience things I never would have, otherwise.  

A few years back, I heard a great writer answer the question, "What would you do if you couldn't write songs for a living?"  His response was, "I'd write songs!"  I guess that goes for me, too (not the great writer part :).
